Unlike Allen Iverson’s attempt at a rap career with “40 Bars” (which can be found in an earlier post on this site,) fellow NBAer Tony Parker released a rap album in French that wasn’t totally resented by the media. This article discusses what the purpose behind releasing the album was for Parker, and whether or not this trend can or should continue among athletes in the NBA. The difference between Parker and Iverson’s contributions was one of message. Iverson chose some negative messages while Parker tended to rap about life in general, and not the “hard” stuff that the media attributes to the thug image the NBA has carried around in the past.
